As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote I love the fact that my child is in an educational setting that values and honors all students, their families and the community. Students get to know the teachers, counselsors and administration in 7th grade and know the expectations every year after that through 12th grade. There is less of the transition crisis from 8th to 9th grade because the setting is familiar.

I also love the IB program. This school is truely a gem in this regard. The IB program is usually thought of as an elite, prep-school curriculum, but the focus in MYP (7-10) is a holistic approach in which ALL students are taught to think critically, from multiple perspectives, in all subjects. Alameda International does this well. All students in grades 7-10 are automatically in the MYP program and noone is excluded.

Once students get to 11th and 12th grade, they are encouraged to select either the IB CP or DP programs, both of which are rigorous. Courses in both of these programs can count towards college credits. The current CP pathway is focused on health careers and offers a bilingual medical terminology certificate. Alameda will be offering a business and education pathway in the next few years, and a design and performing arts pathway are in the works as well. With the new building, programming will be inclusive and open to all students.

Aside from the academics and close-knit family atmosphere, I appreciate that students have scholarship opportunities in STEM via the SHPE Jr. and GE Girls after school clubs, Mock Trial and Speech/Debate, as well as in athletics.

Alameda has pretty much everything I could want in a school for my children. Love it! Close Quote

Open Quote Alameda is truly an amazing school. We may not be the best in sports, but we sure don't hand a game over. The overall game may show that we "lost " but the scores show we put up a fight! One thing we really excel in however, is in our music program which takes a lot more work and dedication than sports! Band got straight 2s (1being the highest) at Grand Junction's music festival while 2 of our choirs and orchestra got straight 1s. Our winter percussion received 1st place in a lower class and this year they raised a class and came 2nd behind Golden high school, however, all season they beat golden in tournaments. Alameda graduated their first IB graduates this year (2012) and almost all of them were in extra -curricular activities which include : band, orchestra, jazz band, choir, cheerleading, musicals, and NHS :) Alameda is changing and improving especially with the constant support of teachers! These scores and ranks do not show the true colors of this wonderful school. Close Quote

Open Quote Hi, I'm a student at Alameda H.S. and our still other than slightly lower funding, is just like any other. We have our great students, and we have our not so great. Except for one detail that we obtain that only around five other schools in colorado have; the IB Diploma Program. Along with IBDP, our school is truely the melting pot. We have around 18 different languages spoken here, meaning we're more diverse than most schools. Now your probably thinking because of this diversity, the school is seperated into groups or clans sorta-speak. Well that statement couldn't be farther from the truth. Here at Alameda most students mixe and blend with a multitude of groups, like myself, (I'm a part of 4 different groups within the school.) My point is, don't trust ratings, trust the students, we know the school better than peopl who rate our school without going their everyday. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
