Terrible experience. My son was actually bullied by his teachers.

Very disappointing experience at this school. Almost every teacher, as well as the administration, is cranky and should find a job outside of education. My child has been told by the teachers for 3 years that her class is the worst class in the history of the school. Last week my child overheard the Health and Wellness teacher tell a police officer, "We are ready to get rid of them." The teachers constantly tell the students how embarrassed they are to be their teachers and how they are worried for the future. The PE teacher is really just an overgrown child and completely abuses his authority. While the students are reading packets about human sexuality, he will play basketball with a mini hoop in his room, but then yell at the students who ask to play with him. He taunts and teases students in front of their peers, causing the peers to laugh and the victim has no idea what he is doing behind them. He has hazed a boy in class when the boy stood up because he thought the class had been dismissed. The teacher made the boy do pushups in front of the class while saying, "I will not irritate my professor" at the top of his lungs while all of the students and other teachers in the room laughed at the boy. My child becomes anxious and stressed in his class because she never knows when she will be the butt of his joke and be laughed at. The Social Studies teacher remarked to the class a few weeks ago not to do anything stupid like _____ would do. (The student she was referring to has special needs.) The same special needs student asked the teacher a question to which she replied, "I don't know, how about you use your brain and think about it." This is just a small sampling of the daily stories my child comes home telling me. Administration has made it clear they have no desire to hear from parents. There is a slide in their beginning of the year presentation telling parents not to contact the teachers, they want students to take responsibility for their education. I tried discussing some of our concerns with the staff a year ago, but the teachers only made my daughter feel more uncomfortable by whispering to each other while looking at her in class and giving her dirty looks. We are so glad our time at CIMS is over. If you're able, find another middle school where the administration and teachers actually enjoy being with students and know how to nurture, teach and discipline with compassion.
