Lincoln Elementary School

Summary:

Lincoln Elementary School is a public elementary school in Denver, Colorado, serving 309 students in grades PK-6. The school is part of the School District No. 1, which is ranked 78 out of 116 districts in the state and has a 2-star rating from SchoolDigger.

Lincoln Elementary School consistently ranks among the top elementary schools in Colorado, with CMAS test scores that significantly outperform the district and state averages across all grade levels and subject areas. For example, in 2023-2024, the school's proficiency rates in English Language Arts (67.3%) and Math (52.8%) were well above the district (40.7% and 31.2%) and state (44.1% and 34.2%) averages. The school's 5th-grade Science proficiency rate of 78.8% was more than double the district (32.7%) and state (37.9%) averages. However, the school's student population is predominantly White, with a relatively low percentage of African American and Hispanic students compared to nearby schools like Valverde Elementary and Goldrick Elementary.

Lincoln Elementary School also has a relatively low percentage of free and reduced-price lunch recipients, ranging from 15.34% to 17.48% over the past three school years, which is significantly lower than the nearby schools. Additionally, the school has maintained a relatively low student-teacher ratio, ranging from 15.8 to 17 over the past three school years, which may contribute to its academic success. These factors suggest a socioeconomic disparity in the school's catchment area and the need to explore strategies to attract and support a more diverse student body.

As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
