Rockrimmon Elementary School is a high-performing public elementary school in Colorado Springs, Colorado, serving 383 students from kindergarten to 5th grade. The school consistently ranks among the top elementary schools in the state, with strong academic performance and a low student-teacher ratio.

Rockrimmon Elementary's academic excellence is evident in its consistently high proficiency rates on CMAS tests, which are significantly higher than the state and district averages across all grades and subjects. While Rockrimmon Elementary has a predominantly white student population, with 74.41% of students identifying as white in the 2022-2023 school year, the school's demographic makeup differs significantly from the nearby Colorado Springs School District No. 11, which has higher percentages of minority students. These factors suggest that Rockrimmon may have access to more resources and funding, which could contribute to its academic success.

As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote This school is poor, at best. Some teachers could care less, and the principle is horrible. I just switched to a new school. I had a ton of complaints, that I told the new school about. They retested my child and found that none of the scores that Rockrimmon was putting on my childs report card were true. All of the test score were about half of what Rockrimmon teachers put. I think there is something fishy going on, there!!! Close Quote

Open Quote If you wantyour child to learn how to take tests, fil in a bubble and never think outside the box, this is the school for you. Though there are a few strong teachers, the leadership is rude and dissmissive of parent concerns. Not 1 library or tech class in 3 years. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
