Abraham Lincoln Elementary

Summary:

Abraham Lincoln Elementary is a public elementary school in Sacramento, California, serving 535 students in grades K-6 and part of the Sacramento City Unified School District.

While the school has seen a significant increase in chronic absenteeism, from 14.2% in 2018-2019 to 49.6% in 2021-2022, its academic performance lags behind nearby schools and state averages. Proficiency rates in English Language Arts and Mathematics on the Smarter Balanced Assessments are notably lower at Abraham Lincoln Elementary compared to the district and state. The school also faces equity challenges, with performance gaps between student subgroups and the surrounding schools, such as James Marshall Elementary and A.M. Winn Waldorf-Inspired.

However, the proximity of Abraham Lincoln Elementary to these other schools presents an opportunity for collaboration and sharing of best practices. Additionally, the school's high percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch, ranging from 76.44% to 87.65%, suggests that addressing the unique challenges and needs of the predominantly low-income community could be crucial in improving academic outcomes.

As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote If you are looking up ratings for schools I have to assume it is because you care about the education you're child receives as well as their welfare. And are not just looking to drop your kid off and pick them up at the end of the day.
In that case, this school is not the best for your child. The weakest link is the Principal. Her incompetence and absence from her job means no one is there to lead. Most of the teachers are only going through the motions and not actually there to teach, but to get a paycheck. It's obvious through their attitudes, the assignments, (lack of) homework and failure to communicate.
It is VERY much worth the travel to take your child to a different school even if this school is the closest. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
