Summary:

Collett Elementary is a public elementary school in Riverside, California, serving 511 students from kindergarten to 5th grade. The school is part of the Alvord Unified School District, which is ranked 1091 out of 1568 districts in the state and has a 2-star rating from SchoolDigger.

Collett Elementary has consistently ranked in the bottom half of California elementary schools over the past decade, with a current ranking of 3785 out of 5862 schools for the 2023-2024 school year. The school has a 2-star rating from SchoolDigger, indicating below-average performance compared to other schools in the state. Key challenges include high chronic absenteeism rates, lower academic proficiency in English Language Arts, Mathematics, and Science compared to the district and state averages, and significant disparities in the performance of student subgroups. For example, while Collett Elementary's African American and Hispanic students perform better than the school's overall performance, the English Language Learner, Special Education, and Low Socioeconomic Status student subgroups perform significantly worse.

When compared to other elementary schools in the Alvord Unified district, Collett Elementary generally performs worse academically, with lower proficiency rates in multiple subject areas. Additionally, the school has a very high percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch, ranging from 80.33% to 91.98% over the past few years, which is significantly higher than the district and state averages. Addressing the unique needs of this high-poverty student population should be a key focus for the school and district.

As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote They don't care about the people who live in the surrounding fence, the teachers aren'tw watching the students at recess, I have video, they allow children to harass dogs by kicking the fence. As well as throwing items in the yard. Now the school didn't think we'll we should let the people know that we will be doing some construction so it may wake your sleeping babies or the irate mother who has been up all night. Nope instead let's yell and rev the engine of the truck. Thank you for having courtesy for your neighbors, I will never send my children here just because of the lack of respect for the neighbors. About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
