Estrella Mountain Elementary School consistently outperforms the Liberty Elementary District and the state of Arizona in academic proficiency across various grade levels and subjects. The school's performance is particularly strong in ELA, with proficiency rates ranging from 49% to 62% across grades 3-8, compared to 34% to 46% for the district and 35% to 46% for the state. The school has consistently ranked in the top half of Arizona elementary schools, with a 4-star rating in the 2022-2023 and 2021-2022 school years, and a 3-star rating in the 2023-2024 and 2020-2021 school years.

Estrella Mountain Elementary School has a more diverse student population compared to nearby schools, with a higher percentage of White (55.91%) and Hispanic (33.96%) students. The school's strong performance among its Hispanic and low socioeconomic status (SES) student subgroups, ranking in the top 25% and 12% of Arizona elementary schools, respectively, in the 2022-2023 school year, is particularly noteworthy. However, the school's relatively weaker performance for its Asian and multi-racial student subgroups suggests a need to further support the academic needs of these subgroups.

As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote My daughter has been attending Estrella since Kindergarten and is now in the 5th grade. The teachers have been engaged, challenging, caring, and attentive. Any issues are addressed and taken care of fairly by the administration in a timely manner.
The student climate is positive, friendly, and helpful.
Our daughter partakes in after school programs for art and music which she has requested on her own and enjoys attending.
Even with budget restraints Estrella has done their best to not eliminate these programs or the field trips which the kids enjoy so much.
No school is perfect and issues will arise no matter what district you are in. But we are happy that this school cares enough to address problems as they occur. Close Quote

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
