Camp Verde Middle School

Summary:

Camp Verde Middle School is a public middle school in Camp Verde, Arizona, serving 365 students in grades 6-8. The school is part of the Camp Verde Unified District, which is ranked 259 out of 288 districts in the state and has a 1-star rating from SchoolDigger.

Camp Verde Middle School consistently performs below the state average in English Language Arts, Mathematics, and Science proficiency across all grade levels. For example, in the 2023-2024 school year, only 28% of 6th graders, 14% of 7th graders, and 18% of 8th graders were proficient or better in ELA, compared to the state averages of 43%, 41%, and 35%, respectively. The school's dropout rates have also fluctuated, ranging from 0.7% to 4.1% in recent years, which is generally higher than the state average. Additionally, 60.55% of the school's students qualify for free or reduced-price lunch, significantly higher than the state average.

While the school's student-teacher ratio is within the typical range for middle schools, the school's performance varies significantly across different student subgroups. This suggests that the school may be more effective in supporting the academic needs of certain subgroups, while struggling to address the needs of others. To improve student outcomes, the school and district should closely examine the factors driving its performance and develop targeted strategies to address the specific needs of its diverse student population.

As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote I believe this school tramples on the rights of kids. I think kids should not be told what they can and can't wear, if it is within reason. My son has a pierced lip. He wears a very tiny piece of jewelry in it. They forced him to remove it. They will not even allow him to place a clear piece of jewelry in it, so that it wont close. When I asked if this rule had ever been challenged, I was told no "we don't challenge rules here" "rules are rules and we just abide by them". Looks like we have a school that is clearly ran by personal beliefs and not whats healthy or fair to the students. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
