Incito Schools

Summary:

Incito Schools is a public charter elementary school serving grades K-8 in Goodyear, Arizona, with a diverse student population that has seen a shift towards more Hispanic students in recent years. However, the school has struggled academically, ranking in the bottom half of Arizona elementary schools and receiving a 2-star rating from SchoolDigger.

Incito Schools' academic performance is a significant concern, with proficiency rates in both English Language Arts and Mathematics well below the state average across all grade levels. The school's weakest area is in 4th and 5th grade Mathematics, where only 4% and 10% of students, respectively, were proficient in 2022-2023. While the school ranks highly for African American and Special Education students, it struggles with Hispanic and White student performance, ranking 809 out of 1,170 for Hispanic students and 786 out of 1,024 for White students. Additionally, Incito Schools has seen a concerning increase in its dropout rate, rising from 0% in 2015-2016 to 1.1% in 2019-2020.

Compared to nearby schools, such as Mabel Padgett Elementary School, Centerra Mirage STEM Academy, and The Odyssey Preparatory Academy Goodyear, Incito Schools' academic performance lags significantly, with these nearby schools consistently outperforming Incito in both ELA and Mathematics proficiency. The school's high percentage of students from low socioeconomic backgrounds, at 42.49% qualifying for free or reduced-price lunch, may be contributing to its academic struggles.

As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote A student attending Incito Schools experienced unwanted, aggressive behavior from another student attending Incito Schools that created a real power imbalance. The behavior was repeated had the potential to continue to be repeated. Meanwhile, the adults looked on not doing anything. These children were 4, 5 and 6 years old. The leadership in the school repeatedly denied these activities, even though they were repeatedly witnessed. At one point, a child who told the adult in charge that they were being hurt was made to run laps for tattling. And repeatedly called a tattletale Close Quote

Open Quote Worse communication ever from staff to parents. As far as parent/teacher conference goes, it’s a waste of time! The student does the conference, unlike other schools where the teacher actually dedicated time to sit with you and explain everything you need to know. My kids like the fact that there is no uniforms and no homework but are learning NOTHING!!! Close Quote

Open Quote My 2 first grade children have a hard time remember what they learned each day when asked daily. They bring home more drawings then they do actual work, while the staff is very supportive, the education is starting to prove underwhelming as suspected and now confirmed based on the 2017 results. Their unorthodox approach to teaching is not impressing me thus far. Palm Valley west has a known track record of excellence and we want the best for our kids, the only thing holding us back is breaking up the relationships developed with the staff at Incito, for now a at least. About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
