Khalsa Montessori Elementary School - Phoenix is a public charter elementary school serving grades K-6 in Phoenix, Arizona, with a student population of 111. This exceptional school consistently ranks among the top elementary schools in the state, boasting a diverse student body and a unique Montessori-based curriculum.

Khalsa Montessori Elementary School - Phoenix stands out for its exceptional academic performance, with students demonstrating proficiency rates significantly higher than the state averages in both English Language Arts and Mathematics across all grade levels. The school has maintained a top-tier ranking among Phoenix Elementary District schools for over a decade, demonstrating its ability to consistently deliver high-quality education and student outcomes.

While the school's small size and lack of detailed data on subgroup performance make it difficult to fully assess its ability to support the needs of all students, the high dropout rate in the 2021-2022 school year is a concerning outlier that warrants further investigation. Overall, Khalsa Montessori Elementary School - Phoenix stands out as an exceptional educational institution, offering families in the Phoenix area a unique and high-performing Montessori-based learning experience.

As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote This school has the test scores that it does because it uses screening mechanisms to ensure that they have the students that can perform at high academic standards in their precious seats. In addition to requiring a fee to attend (not legal and already referred to State's Attorney General) they perform a subjective testing of students prior to "accepting" them at their publicly funded elementary school. Finally, they have no students that require special education services and the ethnic make-up of the students at this school does not reflect the demographics of Phoenix, the neighborhood they are in or the state of Arizona. About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
