The Administrators (Assistant Principals) of this school chose to offer to and did beat three high school students twice in one day with a wood board for joining thousands of young people across the country in observing 17 minutes of silence, in support of the Parkland Florida students who lost their lives and who were against gun violence. Not only is this a violation of the 1st amendment rights of Free speech and of peaceful assembly of these young people, but how is this punishment warranted for this first infraction of some school rule? It is shocking enough that physical violence is going on in any 21st century American school, but here it is offered along with detention for something such as this. Apparently hitting students is so commonplace by the Assistant Principal that this is a routine thing. There is no telling how many students are assaulted at this high school every year for even trivial things. An investigation and/or a law suit needs to happen here. Close Quote
