Ringgold Elementary School

Summary:

Ringgold Elementary School is a public elementary school located in Benton, Arkansas, serving grades K-4 with a student population of 570. It is part of the Benton School District, which is ranked 73 out of 252 school districts in Arkansas and has a 4-star rating from SchoolDigger.

While Ringgold Elementary School is part of a relatively high-performing district, the school itself appears to be underperforming compared to its peers. Its test scores are consistently lower than the Benton School District and the state of Arkansas averages across all subjects and grade levels, with only 25.9% of Ringgold students proficient or better in English Language Arts, compared to 37.6% for the Benton School District and 33.8% for the state. Additionally, Ringgold Elementary has a higher percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch, ranging from 50% to 56.32% over the past three school years, significantly higher than the nearby Perrin Elementary (30.49%) and Caldwell Elementary (18.59%) schools. The school also has a higher student-teacher ratio compared to nearby schools, ranging from 17.1 to 21 students per teacher over the past three school years.

Despite having a higher spending per student ($8,444) compared to the nearby Perrin Elementary ($7,231) and Caldwell Elementary ($7,817) schools, Ringgold Elementary School's academic performance remains lower. This raises questions about the effective allocation and utilization of resources within the school to support student learning. Additionally, the school's declining statewide ranking, from a high of 27th out of 466 Arkansas elementary schools in 2014-2015 to 385th out of 497 in the current 2023-2024 school year, suggests that it may be facing significant challenges that require further investigation and targeted interventions to improve student outcomes.

Open Quote I question the lack of a website per school and then by classroom. I should be able to get policy and handbook information, school calendar information, get homework assignments on line and email the teachers and school employees. I am a grandmother and want to keep track of special dates, projects, etc for my grandkids. In addition I would like to check grades. This information is available in other states and I find the total Benton School District lacking in access for parents and guardians. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
