As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote I know that all Anchorage is all crazy about Rilke Schule, the only German school in Alaska. I am not and I will tell you why: I am German, we speak German at home. We moved to Alaska from a non english speaking country in 2018. My daughter did not speak English, yet. Going to an English speaking school scared her. She speaks fluent, native German though. We applied for Rilke Schule. They run their lottery and did not want to hear about the exception rules the lottery system includes. My daughter ended up in another school, doing Homework is awful for her, and her German of course deteriorated. Rille blocked all my attempts at finding a way out of this situation.
Since August 2018, I have met several parents and ASD teachers who related discipline problems at Rilke Schule to me and who categorized the school climate influenced by "parents with big, fancy cars." Nobody could understand why Rilke Schule would not just accept all native speakers. Close Quote

Open Quote Rilke Schule is extremely unique. Academically it is a stellar school. They have amazing teachers who work harder due to the fact that they have to put in extra hours at a charter school. My daughter's reading skills have soared at this school. After just one year, she is proficient in German enough to hold a conversation. My son will attend Rilke in the Fall. I absolutely LOVE the German culture that my kids are exposed to. They not only teach the language, but they immerse the students in the culture! Their weaknesses are their organization. Their events are such a mess. I just don't attend their specialty festivals. I am worried about their math and science programs in the upper grades. I am hoping that they improve by the time my daughter gets to the upper grades. They don't offer Pre Algebra or Algebra at the middle school level, which puts them behind for high school. About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
